The Class-1 Bluetooth radio provides a maximum range of 330 ft. (100 m). Powered by 2 rechargeable AAA NiMH batteries, CHS 7E consumes minimal power and offers an expected battery life of 8,000 scans under normal operating conditions. SocketScan keyboard emulation software sends scanned data into any Windows, Palm, Symbian or RIM program. The exclusive error-proof protocol prevents errors in wireless transmission of data to the host computer with real-time data validation. The device also incorporates a built-in stylus tip for PDA touch screens and a battery status warning light.
